Data Platform - the foundation of your applications
We are experts within your data platform thus we support the foundation of your most important applications.
Businesses today are all data dependent - and your most important data is almost always stored in a database. The data platform, as we call the foundation, consists of a database and an infrastructure and is thus the heart of your applications. For your data platform to function optimally, it is essential to have a good foundation which is proactively maintained. We have several services to ensure this.
We who love databases. As some of Denmark’s leading experts in this field, our specialists focus exclusively on your databases. It is your guarantee of getting the highest quality data services - whether it is Microsoft SQL, Oracle, MySQL or one of the other common database platforms.

Microsoft SQL is the backbone of our competences in databases and has formed the foundation of our vast knowledge across different types of data platforms.
Our SQL specialists solve all tasks within design and installation of SQL Servers, performance optimization, troubleshooting and support. Whether the task is large or small, we have a consultant with the right skills.
In addition to in-depth knowledge of the SQL Server itself, our SQL specialists also specialize in the areas that connect with SQL, including Microsoft AX & NAV and the infrastructure under the database.
Our consultants are experienced within Oracle back from Oracle 6 in the late 80s and have worked with everything from operating multi-terabyte systems to performance tuning of critical applications.
Their experience is broad and the competences deep - whether you need advice on operation and maintenance or sparring for your PL / SQL code.
The Azure platform supports many different database platforms, and we have extensive experience with several of these, both On-Prem and in Azure. Thanks to our close partnership with Microsoft, we have been working with databases in Azure since the early days and can therefore advise you on the right solution and not least get it implemented with a focus on what actually works in your company – whether it is:
- Azure SQL database
- Azure Database for MySQL
- Azure SQL Managed Instance
- SQL on Azure VM
- Azure Databases for MariaDB
- Azure infrastructure for the databases
MySQL is the widespread and often somewhat overlooked database that works on a very wide range of different operating systems. We have attained extensive experience with this database in both stand-alone and hosting environments from version 5.6 and onwards.
Our broad experience with databases enables us to quickly assist with performance tuning, configuration, and backup.
Get an overview of how a cloud roadmap creates value for your business. With the right setup, the cloud creates immense value - but only if you create a cloud roadmap, which is a clear and overall plan for the transfer.
It rarely makes sense to move everything to the cloud. But how do you know which data makes sense to move to the cloud and which does not? And subsequently, how do you get it moved to the cloud?
All our consultants can help you with this. Contact us now or read more here on the page.

Cloud is here to stay. But when and how does it make sense to take advantage of the opportunities that lie in moving your databases and applications to a cloud platform?
Many questions arise on the journey to the cloud, and we can say with certainty that it is not just a matter of making it all cheaper. It's about choosing the systems and databases suitable for it and having a safe and well thought out plan drawn up to move these to the cloud - but only if it provides value.
You may have heard that everything is fine if all the data is in the cloud. However, our consultants will advise you not to move everything to the cloud, but first examine what CAN be moved and then HOW we get it moved.
You may also have heard that the cloud is a cheap solution, but if you try to move a lot of data to the cloud before the foundation is in place, you risk the solution becoming both expensive and time consuming.
Our consultants help you create and move the foundation before transferring data to the cloud. We also clarify IF the foundation and data can be moved, as well as HOW.
Our consultants help your company get clarity on this and they are looking at the structure as part of the process of clarifying what data needs to be moved to the cloud.
Is it stand alone data, or data that goes across departments or areas? It is important to clarify this, for structure to be maintained and to know what is going on with the company data.
In case you have a large amount of cross-department data, your company risk losing valuable data when moving it to the Cloud. There should be a clear overview of data as well as of data routes. Some data can be moved as stand-alone data, while other data is interconnected and cannot be moved individually without each other.
With a cloud roadmap, you get a practical roadmap for how to move your databases and associated servers to the cloud - but only if it provides value!
We give you an overview of the most important integrations between your systems - both internal and external integrations. Furthermore, we make a cloud architecture presentation, including presentations for monitoring and training, enabling you to carry on the administration yourself.
Make the right strategic choices
Another important aspect our consultants look at in connection with the cloud roadmap, is clarifying whether any data is too old.
If some of your data is too old, our consultants can advise you to make the correct strategic choices, which may be to "switch off" parts of the data. Every possible aspect of the cloud roadmap is covered in dialogue with your company at a workshop.
Well thought out plan for moving data to the cloud
If our consultants consider that it makes sense to move your databases to the cloud, then they first carefully plan the entire process. We make a practical roadmap for how to move the databases and associated servers to the cloud. The focus of this roadmap is the heavy databases with integrations and latency challenges.
The advisory we provide you with is founded on our specialist competences within databases, integrations and BI.
Our consultants make an analysis of your company as well as the company's setup, integrations, and IT system. This analysis identifies the data and systems that can best be moved to the cloud, and which cannot.
This analysis is made based on a system scan, where we scan your company's Microsoft database systems with the latest tools from Microsoft and our own developed tools.
How will our consultants help you?
The project proceeds in three steps; system scanning, integration review and workshops.
- You get an overview of the possibilities for moving parts of your IT installation to the public cloud.
- You get insight to the integrations between your different systems.
- You get a clear roadmap and an overall plan for moving the right applications to the public cloud.
At the integration review, we follow several steps:
Protocols
What network protocols are used in the integrations and data exchange between the different systems? This is important in relation to the cloud transition and the setup there.
External integrations:
Where is the external data retrieved from? Which suppliers should possibly be involved in the project? Is the data still being used?
Internal integrations:
What integrations are there for internal systems and databases? Are these in use and, if so, how much are they used and how critical are they in relation to any latency to public cloud?
Application:
What databases and systems are actually being used? Are any of them candidates for decommissioning? Are some databases used even though they should be shut down?
Resources:
In connection with the system scan, it is identified how many resources the individual systems and integrations use.
Workshop
After you have received our analysis, we facilitate a workshop where we identify the architecture and the requirements that the installation of the company's public cloud must meet, and we prepare a description of this. At the workshop, we also identify the data integrations with systems in the company, as well as their relevance and needs. Of course, we also cover the distribution and control of costs for the public cloud.
The following points are covered at a workshop:
Architecture
Best practices and standards. Tagging of the systems.
Cost management
How do we ensure the size and distribution of costs?
System division
How do we group or divide your systems so that they can be moved and so that it fits with the organization and the business?
Monitoring
What is critical to your business and your infrastructure.
Education and upgrading of qualifications
What training is needed for your own people to maintain and manage the new setup.
Roadmap and prioritization
How should we prioritize between the different systems and in what order should the move take place?
IT strategy alignment
Alignment to objectives in your IT strategy.
Governance and security
Management of security and risks associated with the cloud. Efficient use of resources.
Report
Overall, the conclusions from our workshops are summarized in a comprehensive report:
- System division
- Roadmap for the systems
- Cloud architecture presentation
- Integration overview
- Monitoring presentation
- Suggestions for education
- Expectation of project resources
(Internal and external)
Questions our consultants are often asked…
What is the correct way to start moving my data to the public cloud?
- Our analysis identifies the data and systems that can best be moved to the cloud, and which cannot.
Which architecture will suit us the best?
- At our workshops, we will identify which architecture and requirements your public cloud installation must meet, and a description of this will be prepared.
What data integrations will be affected if I move individual systems?
- Our initial scans reveal the data contexts of your various systems and overall data integrations. At workshops, the relevance and needs of the integrations are identified.
I'm worried about the cost in the public cloud
- Together, we review how to ensure cost distribution and not least cost control, so it does not escalate out of proportion.
Are you sure your company's databases are properly configured and thus provide the optimum? Is backup, index maintenance and data control in place?
Unit IT has extensive experience with infrastructure and configuration in relation to the database and therefore how your database server should be configured to provide the optimum for the individual application.

A condition report gives an overview of the current state of the database, as well as concrete measures to improve performance and ensure a stable situation.
A status report can be prepared for several different database platforms and will typically include:
- Patch level control for Windows Server and SQL Server
- Control of server configuration including disk and network configuration as well as relevant settings for the SQL Server
- Check of the database server settings and configuration
- Review of maintenance plans and backup procedures
- Review of other database-related jobs and their operating status
- Checking and evaluating indexing and other performance parameters
- Review of Windows Server and SQL Server logs
Customers often say that a condition report has given them reassurance, that they are now secure, in control and that they are backed up. Everything is configured to provide the best possible service.
The changes that are implemented often lead to a significant improvement in performance, lower CPU consumption, etc. – completely without changing the code.
After reviewing the above, we prepare a report which we present to you at a final meeting. After this, we agree on which recommendations can be implemented, handling of service windows, etc.
