Danish, family-owned IT provider Unit IT has landed seasoned professional Fritz Øhlenschlæger to run and scale the office in Prague. Having resided in Prague for the past five years, Fritz Øhlenschlæger holds both the experience and tenacity required for navigating the challenges of building and scaling businesses in the Czech Republic.
Fritz Øhlenschlæger has previously led the Czech LEGO model factory as Global Head of Operations in 2014; and as Vice President and General Manager in 2019, he spearheaded the establishment of Itadel's, now ITM8, office in Prague with more than 160 employees. He will bring this expertise into play in his new role as General Manager at Unit IT as the Czech office is scaled.
-Beyond the formalities of setting up a company such as registering the company, bank accounts, and tax lists – all the essential requirements – the exciting part to me is growing the actual business: Building a thriving center of excellence, fostering growth in both clients and colleagues, and maximizing the synergies with our Danish offices to deliver more value to our clients than either Czech nor Danish office could do on its own," says Fritz Øhlenschlæger.
With 30 years of experience in various international leadership positions at Schur, One2One and LEGO, amongst others, Fritz Øhlenschlæger has been heavily involved in marketing, turnarounds, business development, and finance, always keeping a people-centric approach, something that closely aligns with the values of Unit IT. Along with his proven track record of starting and building operations in the Czech Republic, this makes him the ideal match to take on Unit IT’s Czech office.
People are key to success
With a background and education in graphic design, marketing and entrepreneurship have always been part of Fritz Øhlenschlæger’s work life. And these professional areas of interest have one crucial aspect in common: Working with people, as has always been his passion.
- In my experience any company’s success comes from nurturing and working with the right people in the right positions. And once again being able to build and scale an organization, allows me to draw on my experiences and network, and bring together the right winning team to achieve the best possible results," says Fritz Øhlenschlæger, and adds:
- I find that the workforce of the Czech Republic often holds a unique drive, closely linked to the people being young, talented, and motivated individuals from diverse backgrounds across Central and Eastern Europe.
They come to Prague not just for career purposes but also to build a fulfilling personal life. This makes the social aspect even more paramount. With 10-20-30 nationalities under one roof, it is indeed crucial to find common ground and a shared culture. Embracing this diversity is also a strength, and I'm proud to represent Unit IT, which is known for its robust employee culture.”
The competence center in Prague aims to recruit approximately 25 new colleagues in 2024. The first
14 positions are already under contract and ready to join the company as of spring 2024.
